Overview

You can customize values of the Stage field drop-down menu using Opportunity Object Manager.

This document is a step-by-step guide on how you can customize values of the Stage field for the Opportunity object.

Step 1. Go to Object Manager, enter text opportunity in the search bar, and click Opportunity.

Step 2. Go to Fields & Relationships, scroll down, and click Stage.

Step 3. Scroll down to the Opportunity Stages Picklist Values section where you can perform the following actions:

  1. Click New to create a new Stage Field Value.

  2. Click Reorder to change the current order of Stage Field Values.

  3. Click Replace to replace an existing Stage Field Value with another Stage Field Value.

  4. Click Edit to edit a Stage Field Value.

  5. Click Del to delete a Stage Field Value.

  6. Click Deactivate to deactivate a Stage Field Value.

Step 4. When you click New, Opportunity Stages page opens.

Step 4.1. Enter a Stage Name and its Probability.

Step 4.2. Select a Type and Forecast Category.

Note that Type and Forecast Category fields are an important part of Reports on Opportunities.

For example, if you map the Marketing Stage to the Open Type and Pipeline Forecast Category, then the amounts related to all your Opportunities in Marketing will be included in your Pipeline forecast amounts in various reports. Note that Reports normally display expected amounts from all currently Open Opportunities. Reports will therefore filter out any Opportunity that is in a Stage of Type Closed/Won or Closed/Lost, as they aim to display expected amounts from ONLY Open Opportunities.

Note that every time the Stage of an Opportunity changes, its Probability, Type, and Forecast Category will also change accordingly.

Step 4.3. Select the Sales Processes that the new Stage Field Value will be added to.

For more information on creating and using Sales Processes, click here.

Step 4.4. Click Save.

Stage Field Value is created and added to the selected Sales Processes.

Step 2. Click a Sales Process Name.

Step 3. Select and move Stage from Available Values to Selected Values using the Add arrow button and click Save.
