Create Field Dependency

Step 1: Open App Launcher.

Step 2: Enter text field dependency in the search bar and click Field Dependency in search results.

Page opens that displays the Field Dependency tab.

Step 3: Select an Object such as Contract, Record Type as Master Contract Vehicle, and click Go.

Step 4: Enter API Name of the field on which you want to create a dependency of other field(s) and click ADD.

NOTE

In this example, the Prime Information section fields are dependent on the Our Role field value. If Our Role is Subcontractor, then the fields contained in the Prime Information section become available for editing, since we are not the Prime on the Contract.

Note that you can start entering an API Name and the relevant suggestions will popup.

Alternatively, you can enter API Name of a field using Object Manager.

Step 5: Click API Name to enter the value - Subcontractor for the Our Role field and click ADD.

Step 6: Click Value and now enter API Name of the field that will be dependent on the Our Role field and click Add.

NOTE

In this case, the Prime Information section fields’ API Names are entered.
