Delegation of Authority User Guide

Overview

A Delegation of Authority (DOA) matrix defines who in an organization is authorized to make decisions, approve actions, or handle tasks in various business areas, such as supply chain, operations, and finance.

Traditionally, government contractors managed these matrices using Excel documents, which outlined who had the authority to approve various processes based on different criteria. By integrating the DOA matrix into Microsoft Dynamics, we automatically route requests to the appropriate reviewers and approvers based on their authority levels and predefined rules.

Executing DOA

The Execute DOA feature automates the assignment of team members to an entity record (such as an Opportunity record) based on predefined DOA rules. When a new record is created, or an existing one is updated and meets the specified DOA conditions, executing DOA will automatically identify and assign the appropriate team members, eliminating the need for manual input.

The following entities are available out of the box (OOTB) for which DOA rules can be executed:

  • Opportunity

To execute a DOA rule:

  1. Open an Opportunity record.

  2. Click Execute DOA.

  3. Click OK on the confirmation dialogue.

  4. Go to the Team Members tab.
If the Opportunity record meets the DOA condition, the relevant team member details are automatically populated.
