The Document Compare feature is an AI-powered tool designed to simplify how you review, compare, and understand documents. It not only highlights what has been edited but also explains how those changes affect terms, risks, and obligations while allowing you to ask questions for deeper insights.

Manage Documents in Salesforce
This section explains how to upload and manage document versions in Salesforce Agreements.
Upload Document
Go to Agreements using App Launcher.
Open the Agreement record to which you want to upload the file. To create a new Agreement record, refer to Agreement Management User Guide.
Click Files.
Click Add Files.
Click Upload Files, select the file that you want to upload, and click Open.
Click Done.
The file is uploaded.
Upload a New Version of the Document
To upload a new version of the document:
Select an existing file.
Click the down arrow and select Upload New Version.
Select the updated document and click Upload.
The file is uploaded.
View File Details
To view the version details of the document:
Select an existing file.
Click the down arrow and select View File Details.
The version details are displayed here.
Edit or Delete a File
To edit the file details:
Select an existing file.
Click the down arrow and select Edit File Details.
Update the Title and click Save.
To delete a file:
Select a file you want to delete.
Click the down arrow and select Delete.
Compare and Analyze Documents in Mila
This section explains how to compare and analyze document versions in Mila.
NOTE
The Agreement record must contain at least two different versions of a document or two different documents to use Mila's document compare feature.
Accessing Mila from an Agreement Record
To access Mila from an Agreement record:
Navigate to an Agreement record.
NOTE
Ensure that the Agreement record contains uploaded files. Mila requires documents to function. If no files are available, a message indicating that no documents were found is displayed.
Click the Mila panel to expand it.
The Mila panel opens.
Enter your question related to the Agreement in the input field.
Optionally, click the Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down icon to indicate whether the response was helpful.
If needed, click the Refresh icon (
) to generate a new response to the same question.
Chat Context Tab
The files uploaded to the Agreement record in Salesforce are automatically synced to Mila and available in the Chat Context tab.
The Chat Context tab allows you to control which document(s) Mila can access while generating responses. This ensures that all summaries, insights, and answers are based only on the selected document scope.
The Scope section displays all documents available for the selected Agreement. When you select Current Agreement (All Documents), Mila considers all the listed documents for its responses.
To analyze a specific document:
Select the required document.
Click the Chat icon.
The document name is displayed in the welcome message. This confirms the source document that Mila references to generate answers to your questions.Type your question related to the document in the input field and click the Go icon (
) to receive a response.
Document Compare Tab
The Document Compare tab allows you to select and compare two versions of a document or two different documents side by side to identify changes and analyze their impact.
Select and Compare Documents
To select and compare different versions of a document:
Under Older Version, select the Document and the Version.
Under Newer Version, select the Document and the Version.
NOTE
You cannot compare the same version. Ensure two different versions are selected.
Click Compare Documents.
Scroll down to view the comparison status.
The table displays the following details:
File Names: Names of the documents that are being compared.
Status: Processing stage (For example, Queued, In Progress, Completed, Failed, Under Review, Review Completed).
Submitted: Time of submission
Elapsed Time: Elapsed time depends on the document status. For completed documents, it indicates the total time taken to process the file. For in-progress documents, it indicates the time elapsed since the file was submitted.
Click the completed row to open the document comparison wizard.
Document Comparison Wizard
The document comparison wizard is where you review, analyze, and finalize differences between two documents. It provides a side-by-side experience with AI-powered insights to help you make informed decisions.
Document Editor (Left Panel)
Displays the document content in an editable format, highlighting changes directly within the document and presenting the latest working version for review.
Differences and AI Insights Panel (Right panel)
This section displays a detailed breakdown of all differences identified between the two document versions, along with AI-generated insights to help you evaluate their impact.
The AI Insights panel displays the following details:
Total Differences Found
Displays the total number of differences identified between the compared documents, along with an impact breakdown categorized as High, Medium, and Low.Individual Change Cards
Each detected change is presented as a card that includes the document version, impact level (High, Medium, Low), and change type (Added, Deleted, Modified). Mila also provides a concise summary of what has changed, along with an assessment of its business or legal impact to help you make informed decisions.
You can click Highlight changes in the document to navigate to the exact location in the editor on the left panel. For each change, select accept (✔) to apply the update or reject (✖) to retain the original content.Mila Chat Assistant
You can interact with Mila for additional insights on the compared documents.
Save and Complete Document Review
Once you have finalized all changes, complete the document comparison workflow by saving your progress, finalizing the review, and then exporting or sharing the results.
Save Changes
Click Save to save all accepted and rejected changes. This allows you to email or export the saved changes.
Complete Review
Click Complete Review to finalize the comparison, lock the document in read-only mode, and create the final version in Salesforce.
On clicking the Complete Review button:
The document status in the Mila panel is updated to Review Completed.
The Recent Chat Sessions tab displays the compared documents with a Document Compare tag.
Click the recent chat session entry to view the historical comparison details.
The Files section in the Agreement record on Salesforce displays the finalized version created through Document Compare.
Export
To export the comparison results:
Click Export.
Select the content you want to export:
Document: The finalized document
Chat: The differences and the chat conversation on the right panel.
Both: Both the document and chat as two different files.
Choose the format (.pdf or .docx).
Click Export.
The selected file(s) are downloaded to your system.
To email the document comparison results:
Click the Email icon.
In the Email Document window, enter all the required details.
Under Documents to Include, select the files you want to send:
New updated version of the document
Document comparison (includes differences and chat)
Click Send.
An email is sent to the specified recipients with the selected documents attached.
Recent Chat Sessions Tab
The Recent Chat Sessions tab displays your complete chat history, including agreement-related conversations from the Chat tab in the Mila panel and document comparison conversations from the Document Comparison wizard. Click on any entry to view the complete chat.
Email Tab
The Email tab allows you to send chat sessions available in the Recent Chat Sessions tab directly via email.
To email the chat sessions:
Click the Email tab.
In the Email Document window, enter all the required details.
Under Select Chat Sessions, select the chat files you want to send.
Click Send.
An email is sent to the specified recipients with the selected documents attached.
