Opportunity Business Process Flow and Group Configuration Guide

Prev Next

Overview

The Opportunity Business Process Flow (BPF) defines a structured sequence of Stages that guide users through the opportunity lifecycle, ensuring consistency, compliance, and visibility across the process.

Group configuration determines how the Opportunity BPF is applied to different user groups, allowing organizations to tailor workflows based on business requirements while maintaining a common process framework. Together, these configurations ensure that users follow the correct steps, complete required information at each stage, and progress through opportunities in a controlled and predictable manner.

Use this guide when setting up a new Opportunity BPF, modifying an existing Business Process Flow, or configuring groups to align opportunity processes with organizational or regulatory requirements.

Audience

  • Microsoft Dynamics Administrators

  • IT Support

Prerequisites

  • Ensure that TechnoMile Growth Suite is already installed and configured. The version of this package must be 2026.1 or higher.

Creating a New BPF

A Business Process Flow (BPF) guides users through a defined sequence of Stages to ensure that business processes are followed consistently. Creating a new BPF allows administrators to model an end-to-end process, define required steps, and control how users progress through each stage.

Use this procedure when you need to introduce a new workflow, align processes with business or compliance requirements, or standardize user actions across records.

  1. Log in to your Microsoft Dynamics instance.

  2. Open App Launcher, and then select Power Apps.

Alternatively, open make.powerapps.com in a new browser tab.

  3. Click Solution, and then select Technomile_Growth_Suite_Sales_App_Capture.

  4. In the search box, type Processes, and then select Processes.

  5. Click New > Automation > Process > Business process flow.

  6. On the Business Process Flow page:

  • Enter the Display name

  • Select the required Table

  1. Click Create.

The standard BPF designer page appears.

Adding Data Steps to a Stage

Data steps define the information that users must provide within a Business Process Flow stage. Adding Data Steps ensures that required fields are captured at the appropriate point in the process and that users complete critical information before progressing to the next stage.

  1. Click the New Stage box.

  2. Enter Interest in the Display Name field, and then click Apply.

  3. Under the Stage box, click Data Step #1.

  4. In the Data Step window, enter Step Name, select Data Field, set the Sequence, and click Apply.

    Note

Select the Required checkbox to make the Data Step mandatory.

The first Data Step is added to the Stage.

  5. Click Save, and then click Validate.

For a list of all the Data Steps for each stage, see Regular Group BPF: Stages and Data Steps.

An additional data step is added to the stage.

Adding Additional Stages

  1. Click the Components tab.

  2. Select the Stage icon, and then drag and drop it onto the "+" icon.

A new Stage is added to the BPF.
