Fields marked as required must have some content entered before the user can submit changes on a page. You can decide which field(s) to mark as required if they exist on a page layout. If you need help adding fields to a page layout, refer to our article about adding fields.
Mark a Field as Required
IMPORTANT
By default, the system allows you to have different required fields based on page layout. If a field is on multiple page layouts and you want to make it required on all of those pages, then you will need to follow these steps for each of the desired page page layouts.
Click the app launcher in the top left corner.
Search for Customize Growth Opp Layout.
NOTE
If you are using Salesforce Sales Cloud, search for Customize Opp Layout.
Select the appropriate page layout to modify.

Find the correct tab/section where your field is located.
Click the wrench icon to the right of the field

Select the Is Required? checkbox. Click Update to save the change.

Once you are done making changes to the fields on that page layout, make sure you click Save at the top of the screen.
IMPORTANT
Clicking Update on the individual field change does not constitute a save action, if you do not click Save at the top of the screen you will have to start over.

Repeat this process for other page layouts as necessary.
